This pyramid represents Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs which leads us to self-actualization. This term means that we can achieve our full potential in life by first meeting our daily needs. As we learn and grow as people, these daily needs turn into love for others and eventually for ourselves. We can all work to find self-actualization through slowly climbing this pyramid. A therapist is the perfect person to help you to discover yourself and become the person that you've always strived to be!

Building healthy habits can be a challenge, but is possible to do so by following a few easy steps. Making a plan with small achievable goals that grow over time can set you up for success. Recognizing barriers to these goals and finding accountability can help you to work towards adding healthy habits into your daily routine. There are many mental health benefits of reading books! Reading can improve the quality of your life by reducing stress and keeping your mind active in a positive way. Just 6 minutes a day of reading can strengthen your brain's neural circuits and pathways. It's a great way to unwind and try out a new healthy hobby. Comment below your favorite book!

Excessive screen time can take a toll on your mental and physical health. If you struggle with sleep, you know that looking at screens before bed can make a negative impact for some. We have been spending more and more time indoors and on our electronic devices in the last couple of years. I'd like to introduce my guinea pig Ricki! Spending time with animals has been proven to lower cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and reduce blood pressure. Pets are also a great way to counteract loneliness, improve your mood, and increase feelings of social support. Even if you do not have a pet of your own, interacting with the pet of a family member, friend, or neighbor can help to reduce your own stress levels. Share about your pet below!

I'd like to start this Saturday morning off with positive affirmations! Affirmations are messages that we tell ourselves to change our perspectives on ourselves and the world around us. Affirmations can help us to improve our self-confidence and self-image by retraining our brains. This takes practice and time but I have confidence that this tool can help many of us.
